This is our standard mixed age music class. Our parents, grandparents and caregivers have a real chance to shine in this class while they bond with their children. The part-singing and improvisation in these classes are simply magical. Watch the Big Kids^™ (3 and 4 year-olds) take on a leadership role as they model music-making for the little ones. See the babies and toddlers enthralled by watching the big kids. Bring the whole family and watch as everyone has a blast as our musicianship matures.

Tuesdays 12:15-1:00pm, this class if for parents of newborns and infants.  Learn to support your baby's musical development during that delicious phase before your baby keeps you on the run.  This class can only be taken for one or two sessions.  After that, we "mainstream" you into our standard, mixed age classes.

Kiddie Korner classes are 15 weeks and 2 semester of 30 minute classes (these are the fall and winter collections. We do not do the spring collection in the preschool classes.)
During the school year, you can join the Kiddie Korner walkers and help us make this a mixed age class! Research shows that mixed-age classes provide the most effective learning environment. While all the adults in the room model the music-making for everyone to see, younger children (0-1) watch the older children as well, and the older children (ages 2-5) enjoy modeling for the younger ones. Ideally whole families come together to help create an organic, natural music-making community. In the summer, this time slot is available for traditional family classes (see description above.)

The kids who turned 3 in September are in this preschool class with their 2 teachers.  Younger siblings of these children are joined by Music Together families who have experienced at least one (preferably more than one) traditional mixed age family class.  These "Big Kids" inspire awe in infants and toddlers.  Adults learn to appreciate how an older child relates to the musical curriculum.  Classes are 30 minutes and have a reduced fee.

The kids who turned 4 in September are in this preschool class with their 2 teachers.  Younger siblings are encouraged to join as well as veteran Music Together families with a minimum of 1-2 semesters experience in a traditional mixed age class.  These "Big Kids" inspire awe in infants and toddlers.  Adults enjoy seeing what an older child can do with our curriculum.  The classes meet for 30 minutes and are available at a reduced fee

For children ages 5-7

Adults may choose to stay for this class or to come only for the last 10 minutes of the hour. Big Kids is for children who have the social maturity to engage with our music on a more sophisticated, but developmentally appropriate, interactive way.  For kids who are already singing on key and keeping a steady beat, it is a way to continue playing with music with opportunities for more advanced music-making, and developing a more sophisticated, intuitive understanding of music theory.  BIG KIDS works as a companion to formal instrument instruction for kids like these.  For other kids who have not yet attained Basic Music Competence, it is an engaging and safe environment to continue on their developmental path toward singing on key and keeping an accurate beat through practice and reinforcement of concepts of tone and rhythm.

At ages 5-7, BIG KIDS have receptive
musicality at a high level, and here establish the foundation for further musical
expression as well as music literacy.  We celebrate
the children’s ability to:

musicality and creativity

·       Show leadership

·       Follow

·       Make choices

·       Play interactive games

Nuts and Bolts:

·       2-3 sessions are
recommended.  Sign up for 2 sessions and the registration for the second session is waived. 

·       Parents/caregivers may stay for class or come only for the last 10 minutes of class

·       Classes are for ONE FULL HOUR

·       Parents/Caregivers help with follow-through HOMEPLAY activities throughout the week between classes.

·       Each child receives his/her own materials and a special gift.

·       Parents/Caregivers are invited to share the last class of the session together
